Lithium is present in reefs all around the world.​ Lithium effects on animals and plants physiology is still to be researched but, it is thought to be important for overall health.

Nonetheless, maintaining Lithium levels in our tanks the same as in seawater is likely a good approach. Lithium seawater concentration is between 0.1-0.2 mg/l.

As per Reef Zlements mixing classification Lithium is a Type C element.
